Summer Reading Freebies!

Summer in Boerne is full of sunshine, splash pads, and sweet memories—and what better way to make the most of it than with some free fun for your little bookworms? We've rounded up the best ones and how local families can use them to make summer reading extra rewarding.

Here are some real rewards your family can snag this summer just by logging books and reading minutes:

The Patrick Heath Public Library (opens in a new tab) in Boerne (opens in a new tab) has its own summer reading program : Summer Reading Challenges

The library is excited to offer summer reading challenges for all ages again this summer. Little Readers can pick up their challenge sheet starting June 2. Complete your choice of challenges each week to be entered into a weekly raffle for a chance to win a prize from our display case of treasures!

The challenge begins June 2 and ends July 26! Earn Dino cards and an entry to win prizes for each book you read. Stop by the library to get their reading Challenge Sheet!! More Info Here (opens in a new tab)

Here’s how to make reading rewards work for your family:

✅ Create a family reading chart – hang it on the fridge
✅ Make it a weekly outing – read, then redeem a prize
✅ Use rewards as motivation – “Read 3 books, get a Bundtlet!”
✅ Celebrate progress – plan a “reading party” with your earned freebies

These reading programs are a great reminder that fun and learning can go hand-in-hand—and they don’t have to cost a thing. Whether you're homeschooling, road-tripping, or just soaking up slower summer days at home, these rewards are a simple (and sweet!) way to celebrate your kids' reading progress.

Let’s make this a summer to remember—one story at a time. 💛
